After surfing the net for days upon days and talking to more people. I am getting into photography more. I am currently working on the newspaper for my campus and every issue is a different challenge. I mean anyone can take a photo with decent light and say, "Here ya go. Put that in the issue!" But I am trying to take it to the next level. I want to share my creativity through photography.
After surfing the web and reading blog after blog, I noticed that the camera I have and the 2 lens I have are very nice for the style I am shooting in most days. I have also recently been carrying my point and shoot camera on me where ever I go. This is due to the fact that I found one of my new inspirations I wrote about a few posts ago, Chase Jarvis. Even though he is a Nikon shooter and I am more fond of Canon, I really dig his lifestyle and his photo shoots he has to do. He gets to travel the world and work with some pretty sweet people.
So I wrote this post because I am now researching (I can't really say shopping) for a new lens and maybe some accessories. I found on on the blogs I read that Sigma is coming out with a new lens and the photos from the test are absolutely gorgeous. And the sweet thing is none of them I viewed needed photoshop. It was just a good lens!
Here are some links from what I have been browsing through:

I want to thank a friend of mine
I just wanted to post this in thanks to a friend I know who is a pro photographer. I saw him over and over again post photos on facebook and each of them had a caption that read, "Best Cam, Chase Jarvis". Then another photographer started doing the same. These photos were really cool and looked like they were all photoshop'ed up.
I was curious and my friend, the internet, helped me quickly find out a little information about Chase Jarvis. Apparently, he is a pretty well known photographer who travels the world and journals about each of his days.
He doesn't journal in a notebook...he uses his iphone and a created app by him, called best camera. This allows anyone to snap a photo, edit it like a pro, and post to the net in three clicks.
After he got this going with his app, he started a website to show all of his creations, his app, as well as his new book that is a collection of all of photos.
http://blog.chasejarvis.com/blog/
There is his blog and you can read on a little more about him if you wish. It's kind of cool and interesting to me.

kaoss'ing everyday
I just recently got this new "toy", it's kind of expensive to be considered a toy and it's called a kaossilator. There are more and more youtube videos of this thing being used in all sorts of manners. I feel in love the instant I saw it on youtube and knew I had to get one!
So, I saved up in my piggy bank and one day went to go get one. I ended up getting lost and got there too late the warehouse was already closed. I wanted to get one really bad and said I will be back in 2 days. Two days pass by and I get really sick. I was sick for almost 1 week.
Days later, I get out of class and tell myself that today is the day and that I am going to get a Kaossilator. I go to the bank with my girlfriend and pull out some cash from the ATM. I get the Kaoss and I have not stopped using it since. This was about 2 weeks ago.
Here is my first video on youtube of me using it and I think I might be able to run with the big dogs.

Some New Music
Wow, it's been a long time since I have been on here. I was in my new new Advertising class today and we were talking about Twitter and blogs and I was the only one in class who said they did both. So, here I am, blogging again.
Over the past few weeks I have been looking for new music and a good friend of mine told me about a singer name Jonny Craig, from Emarosa. Craig has just released his solo album and I have to say, it's very good. The song titles are a bit odd but the music makes up for it.
Here is one of the songs I can't stop listening to...it's called Children of Divorce.

Just got back from St. Louis
Me and my girlfriend went to St. Louis for the weekend to see a musician named Trevor Hall. We also did a lot of other things as well. We went to the Bud Brewery and took the whole tour and got to see how the beer was made and then at the end got two free beers. That was pretty nice. The we went to the Zoo and that was okay…it was really hot though so we got pretty tired pretty fast and saw as much as we could. Then after that we went and stood in like for about 3 hours to get to the top of the Gateway Arch. The last day was kind of a bummer because it rained and we wasted our time and money at the science center and was late getting to the mall.

i have to post about circa survive
A little background story...I think I was around the age of 17 and I was watching Mtv and saw this random show which showcased bands that are not that big or bands that are up and coming. Circa Survive was one of them and I can't remember the song that was one but I did not like it at the time.
Fast forward a few years to college and in my sophomore year I met a kid from New York City and he was all about Circa Survive and had almost all of their albums. He even knew really interesting facts about the band.
After hanging with him for year, I have grown to appreciate Circa Survive and now they would considered in top 20 list of bands if I made one.
Here is a music video a very good song by them and it's called - Act Appalled. Enjoy!

A Quarter Not Worth 25 cents?
Okay today I was getting ready to go to the gas station and get a snack with my girlfriend when I grabbed my change off my desk, some quarters, dimes and nickels, and then I realized one quarter didn't look right. It had smooth edges. I recently took a class and my professor enjoyed giving us useless facts throughout the class and one of them was that before 1964, quarters we made out of 90% silver, which back in that time, silver was worth more money than what a quarter was worth. People would shave their quarters down and get more money for the shavings because pure silver was worth a good price. Once the Mint found this out they took action and tried to solve this problem. After 1965 the quarter was composed of copper and nickel, which some may know that those two materials are not worth very much. So the rigid edges added to the quarters were put into place and that way the banks would know if someone tried to shave the quarter or not because there would be smooth edges, like the 1966 quarter I have. To bad because the 1966 quarter had no silver in it at all.
I have found a website that interested me and help me come to my conclusion I have mentioned above.
http://www.coinfacts.com/quarter_dollars/washington_quarter_dollars/1966_quarter_dollar.htm
I have found this information to be very interesting...
When the Coinage Act of 1965 was passed, it became mandatory that the Mint continue to use the 1964 date on all 90 percent silver coins (half-dollar coins, quarter-dollar coins, and 10-cent coins). Therefore, all of the 90 percent silver coins that the Mint manufactured in 1964, 1965, and 1966 bears the date 1964. The last of the 90 percent silver quarter-dollar coins was struck in January 1966
Maybe my 1966 quarter is originally silver but stamped 1966 instead of '64.

I just wanted to post something
Let's see what has been going on lately since my last post. I have to put up some photos of my sisters grad party. I think I only have a few and they weren't very good. Last night my girlfriend and I took out a very close friend of ours and showed him a great time. We had a few drinks and went to a few bars. It was great weather for sitting outside and talking and catching up on life.
Today, my girlfriend took me to Chuckie Cheese so we could see her 3 year old cousin. It was her birthday and she had a blast! I think i made a new friend because she kept coming to me giving me her tickets and telling me to "Hold on to deez peez" I was a lot of fun and we had some EXTREMELY sugary cake mixed with all of the other loud kid running around and some pop and pizza. Sometimes I wish I was still young.
Here are a few photos:

let me bring it back for a little bit!
Do any of you remember Prodigy?
Well Prodigy was started in 1990 by a Englishman named Liam Howlett. The band was formed in Braintree, Essexx, England. Through out their career Prodigy has sold over 17 million records which out numbers any other dance musician in the business. Their music ranges from industrial, rave, break beats, and electronica.
There are now only three members in the band and yes the band is still around. The three left in the band are, Liam (creator, vocals, and keyboards), Keith Flint (dancer/vocalist) and Maxim Reality (MC/vocalist). Leeroy Thornhill (dancer/very occasional live keyboards) was a member of the band from 1990 to 2000.
Prodigy recently came out with a newer album which is said to be better than anything they have put out. The new album, Invaders Must Die, was released on November 5, 2008. This album featured artist such as Dave Grohl(Nirvana, Foo-Fighters).
Here is an newer video from Prodigy called Warrior Dance from their album, Invaders Must Die. I have got to say they still got it.

There is Light at the End of the Tunnel
Okay, today is now Thursday and I have been working very hard in my classes I am taking and also off campus at my job. Everyday I wake up I have to keep in my mind that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. For my job off campus I keep tell myself that there is a paycheck every two weeks. That is nice part about that side. On the other hand, my night class on Tuesday's is starting to get intense really fast. I am currently in Human Diversity and Social Justice with Dr. Gary Bachman. He is a great professor but I don't think I have ever been in a class that had so much reading. All I keep telling myself is that I have to stay on top of the readings and papers and not fall behind because it is only an 8 week class.
While doing all of this work for class and off campus I can't forget about my music and photography.
Here is a youtube video (song) that I think all of you might enjoy!
Listen to it while studying or reading...it's very comforting!
I took some photos over the past couple of days and I will try and get them up soon! I also want to use my flip camera and so be looking out for that as well.

You have heard about The Soloist (The Movie) Here is the Real Thing!!
Mr. Foxx and Mr. Downey Jr. do great jobs portraying Mr. Lopez and Mr. Ayers. (As you can tell I am using Mr. Watch the video above and you will understand)

Why is it always a little bit off?
I just recently started the book, The Soloist, after I saw the movie which I think was a bad idea. I have never read the book first then went to see the movie. Overall, I am not a big reader anyway, but for a class I am currently in I have to read a book of a list the professor gave us and write a report on it.(5th grade all over again)
This book compared to the movie has some pretty large differences in it that any one who can read will spot these quickly. I really wish I could state some of them but just in case someone happens to stumble upon this post, I do not want anyone reading this and having it spoil the movie and or book.
Go see/read it for yourself!

This weekend I went back to Omaha for my sister's graduation party from graduate school. She now has he Master's degree in Business and Leadership and is only 22 years old. I am 21 years old and am not even done with my 4 year bachelor's degree. The video above is a short video of the party before everyone got there.
Last night me and my girlfriend went to go see the movie "The Hangover". This movie was hilarious! Zach Galifinakis made the movie. The movie is about 4 guys going to Las Vegas for a bachelor's party and not remembering what exactly happened. They go through a lot of shiz to finally get back on track. I don't want to give away the movie and so I will leave it at that.

Lets start more classes....Why Not???
Okay, I just started my second summer class today and it is called Human Diversity and Social Justice. It's pretty cool but there is going to a ton of reading to do in the next 8 weeks. It looks like I have to kiss my summer goodbye. One of the books I have the "choice" of reading is The Soloist. If anyone you out there who read my blog, I have seen and written a small review on The Soloist. Now, I have to find the book, (done, I found it on Amazon for 4$) and read the damn thing. I am usually not a big reader but, this one might be different.
So what else is going on in my life. Oh, I think because I started these two classes I don't think I will have much time for photography so that stinks. However, I always try and carry my Flip camera on me where ever I go.
Well I know some people don't like just reading the blogs so I will post something interesting here at the end.
Check out Kate Havnevik! She is really good!! She will be on tour soon with my personal favorite, The Scene Aesthetic and Owl City

Three hours well spent to see a GREAT movie!
Today is now Saturday, May 30, 2009, and on Friday me and my girlfriend went to Columbia, MO to see a movie. The movie we saw is called Gigantic. It featured many great actors and actresses, such as John Goodman, Zooey Deschanel(sp?), Paul Dano, and Ed Asner. The film was about a 28 year man wanting to adopt a baby from China and the troubles and problems and people he meet through his journey in doing so. The movie was held at a small bakery, bar, cafe, theater, called RagTag,(which was pretty interesting.) It was two small theaters which consisted of about 40 seats and a few couches all from the 70's.
Oh wait! before I go on I have to say that me and my girlfriend went to this restaurant called Longboards. She heard of it and so we had to try it out before we got on the road. It was delicious! It's mainly all wraps, hot or cold and salad bowls. I had the chicken teryaki and she had the hummus.
Me and my girlfriend got the Columbia a few hours earlier to walk around and I brought my camera with me for fun. I got some good photos of Columbia. When we left the theater I thought it would be fun to see Mizzou's campus and so we found it and drove through it. All I can say is WOW!! It was pretty cool! It went on for days!!!
Ok now for some photos!

Ok so I just started shooting in RAW and I want to see how the colors look when I post photo
So, just like the title says, this is more of a test blog. I just wanted to see the colors of a random photo I took and see if the conversion between RAW and JPEG made a big difference. I think I like it. The colors stayed true.

Me and my girlfriend are looking for some sweet bikes!

So after some time me and my cute girlfriend have been talking about getting bikes. But what color, style, shape, brand? I have no idea! I would personally like a vintage BMX bike for me and I think my girlfriend would enjoy a beach cruiser.
Now the hunt begins for decent priced bikes. I would rather buy the bike in person and not have to mess with the shipping cost and having them possibly damaged.
The flower bike would be for my girlfriend and the other one would be mine!

Only 3 Days left of this Maymester Class
Oh Man! I have only three days left in this Maymester class!. For those of you who don't know what a Maymester class is...it is a class that is 10 days long, 2 weeks. You go to the same class from Monday through Friday for about 4 hours a day. But wait there is a fun part, you have a test Every Single Day! Yes! Woo Hoo!....just kidding. It's not terrible if you get the required amount of sleep you need every night.
Besides the point, I was walking back from my class today and was jamming to my ipod nano and shuffled upon a song by The Scene Aesthetic and it was called Red Rover. This song is featured on their new up coming album which is supposed to be out during this summer.

So Again....I can't sleep
I can't sleep and have a test in my class. Sure sure, I studied but it is still a test. I am now done with my third year of college and this means, I have to get into gear with what I want to do with my degree.
Public Relations
There are many opportunities in today's world that it is hard to choose from. I starting beefing up my resume today, getting help from the resume specialist here on campus.
She sent me a link to a company called Reactor, informing people that they are looking for an intern. This company looks sweet! Check them out at www.yourreactor.com
So, now I have to force myself to sleep in order to study in the morning and get a good grade on this mgmt test I have in the afternoon. 2 days down and 8 to go then a week off. ONLY 8 DAYS!!!! yes...I can do it!

This might or might not be in the next issue of The Stylus
Imagine yourself living on the streets, homeless, down on your luck, and having nothing to hope for. For schizophrenic Nathaniel Anthony Ayers Jr., this was his life. The Soloist released into theaters nation wide April 24, 2009. Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx team up to create a emotional film.
Jamie Foxx playing Nathaniel Anthony Ayers Jr., a former cellist student who attended Julliard, now homeless is filled with a the desire and love to create music. Robert Downey Jr. who plays Steve Lopez, a La Times journalist is also down on his luck. While the La Times is down sizing their newspaper, Lopez needs a story to keep his job.
Lopez finds Ayers on the street playing the violin and pulled in by the beautiful melodies he creates. Lopez tries to help Ayers get back on his feet and playing concerts like he once used to do.
This film journeys through a friendship of two completely opposite people. The emotions portrayed by Lopez and Ayers gets on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
This is a must see movie, even you don't appreciate classical music, you will find the desire Ayers has and become moved by what will happen next.
This film is an inspiration to many to follow what you believe in and what you want. The director Joe Wright captures the story of the two men and the friendship that is growing between them.
I recommend this film to everyone and anyone. I give it a A-. Life does have a mind of its own.

it's coming close to summer
As today goes one I think more and more about this summer and what it has in store for me. Unfortunately, I won't be able to enjoy summer to it's fullest potential because of the three classes I have to take starting two days after this semester ends.

It's been a few days
Sorry, it's been a few days since my last post and I have a lot to talk about. Lately, I have been getting into Twitter. It is a form of blogging where you and friends update your status throughout the day. Celebrities, sports stars and musicians have them and it's always fun to take a peak into their real lives.
This past weekend I went home to spend some time with the family during Easter. I got some pretty cool shots of my little cousins. It went by really fast and I wish I got more time to spend with them.
Over the next couple of weeks I am going to be nice and busy. I have a lot of the papers written, now it's time to edit....no fun at all. I wish I could just send them to an actual editor.

I'm jammin to tunes and taking one day at a time.

Okay, I wanted to post yesterday but I didn't have any time to do so and so here is yesterday and today mixed into one post.
Yesterday at work a man came in to where I work, Cartridge World, and he was tatted up from head to toe. His whole face was cover in tattoos. His face also consisted of numerous piercings that looked incredibly painful. There were two bars going through the top of his nose, between his eyes. His tattoos lined his blond mow hawk. I was informed by my boss that this specific gentleman makes thousands of dollars traveling to and from schools all over the world talking about how not to judge a book by its cover and how to deal with bullies. My boss told me this guy was one of the nicest people you would ever meet. Just before he left he invited my boss out for lunch when he got back from Europe.
Today was just work work work and then I wasted time going to a WCT test prep session. I had maybe two questions and it was pointless. I think I'm almost ready for it.
This picture looked similar to him. He had a very close appearance to Dog the Bounty Hunter. Take the looks of Dog and then the tatts of the other guy.

My Rant

I don't understand how some professors work in college. There will be a whole 16 week semester and profs won't have any of their students do any work. But when there is 7 weeks left they love to get together with the other profs and plan to demolish the students life by assigning every long, time consuming assignment all at once.
Summer is so close. It's getting warmer outside and that makes it so hard to focus and go to class.

So Many Things, Not So Much Money
Man.... there are a lot of very nice things that I would love to have but the money to buy those nice things. One of those things is the new iPod shuffle. It's extremely small and hold a great amount of songs. The price is not to high either, being only at 79$
The Flip camera is also a very nice electronic I feel everyone should have. It is a camcorder that is no bigger than a deck of cards and weighs about 3.5 ounces. The flip camera holds up to 60 min of video and the camera will work on any computer. The flip camera is only about $177, which isn't to high for what it can do.
I can wait.....I will do the elementary thing and save in my piggy bank.

Another Good First Friday's
So, tomorrow is Saturday and i finally have a little break from work and school to relax and do nothing. It is spring break but I don't count it starting until after 4pm on Sunday when I don't have to work for almost ten days.
Okay, okay....first Friday's. After work I rushed back to the dorms to pick up my girlfriend and hit the road. A little back story on First Friday's...it is a big free festival type event every first Friday of the month when it's nice outside, so mostly summertime.
We get down to the Art District/Crossroads where it's at and parking is the worst. There may only be 100 spots and 500 cars. The math does not add up to me. We find a spot and start walking. I head straight to one of my favorite building/galleries and head in to find some sweet art. The art in this one was very "urdan". Lots of graffiti and city influenced.
After we went back outside and I soon found myself in the large crowd around the live Hip Hop rapper's. I see them every time I go and love what they can do. This time they have a few guys bustin' break moves, mostly tops, but some stunts. I felt the urge and beat in my soul and was told I wouldn't get out there and so... I went for it and went out and danced. Jordan, my girlfriend said I did go and some of the other dancers were feeling it.
I wish I could say more but I'm tired and it's 1:33am and time for bed.
Good Night

I had a Good Day
I had a great day today!!!
However, people in the building I live who use the elevator for the second floor....I don't like them. Unless you are unable to walk up stairs for a medical reasons or very tired from doing something active, you can walk up 15 stairs!!!
The building I love in is only 4 floors.... lazy asses!!

Song Writting
I love writing songs and I hate writing songs. Sometimes my thoughts will flow and I can write some of the best stuff ever but then when I try and go back to play it, nothing! I forget most of the cool stuff I write. I also get stuck on the few chord combination's I know which makes for every song to sound the same.
When I sit down to write the music usually comes first. But lately I have been trying to switch things up a little bit. I need to start writing my ideas down more often and right when they hit me.
My ultimate dream would be to play on a stage for people that are there to see me and enjoy my lyrics I wrote and maybe they might know a word or two. That happened once in high school. I wrote a song in a band I was in and we had a decently sized showed and after the show and posting the song on our site, people started singing it in the halls and downloading it from the site.
There is no better feeling than to have someone you don't know singing what you wrote.
Someday with much needed practice I will be able to achieve that level of writing.
o and i love jordan becuase i know she will read this and i just wanted to say that to her

It's too cold outside
Today I really wanted to go outside and take some pictures and go on a photo hunt but the weather just sucks and it is way to cold outside.
Yesterday, I had the strangest feeling when I went to the bank. It's the feeling you get when you think someone is watching your every move. I pull in the bank and see the sea of cars in the drive thru lanes and drive up atm. I am not that lazy and can park and walk to the other atm. So, I park and get out and go up the the atm. I'm just about to put my card in when a young boy no older than 13 comes up behind and for some reason I feel like he is trying to peak at my information. I hurry up with what I am doing at the atm and get back to the car.

What is about Valentine's Day makes everyone act a bit different. My Valentine's Day this year was the best I have ever experienced.

The Weekend
This weekend was one to remember. It consisted of a roller-coaster of emotions. Friday was eventful. I went to the Westport area to go with girlfriend to get her hair cut at this place called, Lady Luck. This place was a bit different from what I am used to seeing. Most of the stylist were tatted up and all of them had a vibrant fake hair color. About half way through her cut, I decided to get mine cut and asked the guy if he had time. He did and said how do you want your hair?? I said I don't know short and choppy. He replied with, "Ok I will fuck your hair up!" ... Whatever it's just hair...I left there feeling like he didn't do anything to my hair besides style it differently and so I called him and my and girlfriend turned around to go back and get more cut off.

I should of kept my mouth shut.
I stayed up way to late last night just to watch America's Best Dance Crew from the previous week. I missed the last weeks show becuase of my radio show I had. So, today I woke up just before my 8:45am class to find myself sitting next to a girl who didn't understand or know what a tissue was and constantly snorted her snot further back into her head.
Oh and I was very close to calling another out in front of the whole class becuase she came in almost 20 min late and does this every single Thursday when we have presentations every Thursday.
I am sitting at work while my boss and his friend get to enjoy the weather outside and walk to get some lunch down the street. I need the moeny but I shouldn't have open my big mouth and said I would come in Thursday. Damn.

Where did everyone go?
It's Wednesday, almost 1pm and everyone is gone. I guess that's what you get when you don't play sports and everyone else does. They are all off getting fit and all sweaty and I am here creating my first blog site.
This blog site was inspired by my feature writing professor, John Lofflin. He is not like any average professor. He pretty much lets you know whats up in plain english and doesn't mind what you think. His stories set in the scene and make you feel like your in a movie acting the scene out and he is the director.
Over the next few weeks, I am going to try this blogging thing out and see how it works and see if I even like it. But for now I got to go find something to do. Maybe go to the bank and freak out on them becuase they fucked up my money again.
